Clients win E-commerce Awards
Thursday 06 October 2005 Business and GovernmentChemical Treatment Services (CTS) of Belfast won for Best Use of Mobile and Wireless Technology in a solution for Belfast City Council and the Citizens Advice Services won for Best Customer Care Online. They go to the Grosvenor House Hotel in London for the finals where a national winner in each category will be announced.
The 2005 national E-Commerce Awards are run by the Department of Trade and Industry and InterForum, a not-for-profit organisation that helps British businesses trade electronically. They are sponsored by BT and the Sunday Times Enterprise Network.
CTS are responsible for the Legionella risk management for Belfast City Council. This involves checking the water quality performing various tests and checks across in the various council locations. Before Biznet's involvement, CTS were recording the information, taking collecting a required designated signature and manually and updating a database manually on return to base. This was inefficient and didn't provide the Real Time information required to make quick decisions.
Biznet Solutions helped CTS develop an application which allows CTS staff to record testing and verification information using a small pocket computer (PDA) whilst onsite.
Once captured, this information automatically updates the CTS central database and the results can be viewed immediately on a secure website. It saves time and could save lives by helping to reduce the risk of legionella.
Citizens Advice Services is the commercial trading company for the charity Citizens Advice Bureau. They won for using e-commerce technology to sell information, case management, ICT, training and voluntary sector consultancy to the private, public and statutory sectors. The company has been successfully trading for three years and covenants its profits back to the charity.
